One Year Down...
Today marks my one year anniversary of publishing Young Cannibals! True, I did live with the characters for two years prior to Smackjeeves in several attempts at getting in the newspapers, but I've found a home here on the web.
I want to thank Alex and Felicia for all their help during my attempts at syndication and for helping me get the necessary stuff to run a web comic. Good luck with your wedding next week! I love you guys!
A special shout out goes to Joey for helping me out, too. Wouldn't be where I'm at without your help. I owe you.
Now for my big whopping goal. As many of you know, YC was inspired by Charles Schulz' Peanuts (some would say that I ripped him off, but they're haters). Schulz did the strip for nearly 50 years before his death, so in honor and inspiration to that accomplishment I want to do Young Cannibals for 50 years, too.
I've thought about this for a long time, and I'm aware that this is not something to take lightly (I'll be in my friggin' eighties when this is done); but there really isn't anything else that I would want to do for the rest of my life than draw Violet, Toad and the rest.
I doubt that YC will ever be as successful as Peanuts, but so long as I can continue to write and draw this comic (even if it's only for myself) then I'll be happy.
Hope you guys stick around for another 49 years.
JR
